I finally got around to posting the crafts we have left over from the Crafts for a Cause sale we had this past summer. I informed our art contributors that I will be doing this but haven’t got around to it due to various personal reasons… and procrastination.
In any case, click to see the Crafts for a Cause shop in all its glory.
There, you will find a grrrlVIRUS keychain, grrrlVIRUS t-shirts, feminist fanzines and perzines, paintings, vulva pins, feminist patches, slut handkerchiefs, and much more.
All items are handmade by fellow females worldwide, and all profits from these items will go to benefit the Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center.
The last few items I received are from Tasha, from Australia. I received the package by mail after she tried to send it several times and it never made it on time for the summer street sale we had. She sent me a message back in April saying she organized a “crafternoon” for the cause and all items that were made will be sent to us. She seemed so enthusiastic about it and I was touched by her devotion. But when the package never made it to us, and was returned to Tasha after a few months of floating aimlessly around in postal space, I was ashamed with Israel’s postal service.
But Tasha didn’t give up and tried sending it again. I was happy when I went to the post office and found myself with a big package from Australia, and was even happier when I found out it’s from Tasha, and I was absolutely over the moon when I looked over all the amazing crafts included there.
Any grrrl with an ounce of the virus running in her veins will love those things. My inner child, being the badass little rebel she is, said “Screw this, I’m keeping all this stuff for myself!”
“Now, now,” I replied. “These things were made and donated with the intention of being sold for the JRCC. This is for charity.” So my inner child can keep being the badass little rebel she is, and still help the Rape Crisis Center which, after helping so many women, can sure use some help right now.
What is interesting is that many of the people who donated money and bought the items we sold during the street sale were men. So dear fellow reader, if you are one of those who identify themselves as members of the male specie, you too are invited to have a look at the items sold at the Crafts for a Cause Etsy store and help support the Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center by buying some awesome crafts!
Here are some of the items sold on the Crafts for a Cause Etsy shop:

Handmade duct-tape wallet, by Jane Danger of riot grrrl band The Cathy Santonies

Not Sorry CD, music and lyrics by Catherine Elms
More items will be added soon!

Hey Hadass420,
I was wondering on a similar note,, Im in a women’s studies class and have to design a house (virtual) that is specifically crafted and designed with women in mind. I’m having a hard time coming up with ideas that can make its design uniquely female…any good ideas?
Also, its for a class of feminist nature so obviously a room full of vanities and glamour magazines are going to cut it.
Thanks
Hi George! Thank you for your comment. I always believed that every woman is unique and you can’t assume that a woman may like one thing or another just because she is a woman. If I were to design a house for myself, it would have lots of vulva paintings, but that’s just me. There are women who wont want to have that. Maybe they’d prefer paintings of babies… I think maybe a very comfortable sofa, a library with more books than DVDs, lots of feminist literature, paintings by famous artists, again, preferably female like Frida Kahlo…
That’s roughly the ideas I have… I hope it helps
Good luck on your project, and kudos for taking a women’s studies class!
